I didn't come from the traditional finance world. I grew up with strong conservationist values, believing that success means leaving New Zealand in a better condition than we found it. Long before Westlake Investment Fund was established, countless early mornings and weekends were spent trapping possums across Canterbury—not just to earn extra money while the fund was in its infancy, but because protecting our native bush and birdlife has always been something I genuinely care about. Those experiences shaped the way I think about investing: patience, hard work, and looking decades ahead rather than chasing quick wins.
